Mayor Ahmed Talib Bensouda has dramatically announced the birth of a new movement called United Front which he vows to transform into a political party capable of reshaping The Gambia.
“This is a call for action. This is a call for all Gambians, young and old, male or female, home or abroad, to come together for change,” Bensouda declared.
He revealed that he and other like-minded Gambians have come together with “the desire and ambition” to create a platform that speaks to the needs of citizens in “every village, every community, every association and every corner of the world.”
Bensouda, who until recently was a member of the United Democratic Party, admitted his decision to part ways with the party was not an easy one.
“The decision to leave UDP has not come lightly and was difficult,” he said, while thanking the party and its leader, lawyer Ousainou Darboe, for their support over the years.
But the Kanifing Mayor insisted Gambians are suffering and can no longer afford to sit idle.
“I ask Gambians, we have to come together and change this country,” he urged.
The new movement, he said, is not just about politics but about restoring hope and dignity to ordinary Gambians.
