Health Minister Samateh on Nationwide Health Facility Tour.

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh led a high-powered delegation through seven critical health sites across the country, marking an intensive Day 2 of his nationwide tour aimed at assessing infrastructure, service delivery, and ongoing health projects.

The day began at Kiang Karantaba Health Center, where Dr. Samateh engaged with medical staff to discuss service delivery challenges and infrastructure needs. He then visited Madina Angaleh Health Post and Madina Sanchang Health Post, both serving remote populations with limited access to advanced care.
At each stop, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare and ensuring equitable access for all Gambians.

The tour continued to the Mansa Konko Asbestos Project, where the Ministry is overseeing the removal of hazardous roofing materials. The project is part of a broader initiative to modernize aging health infrastructure and eliminate environmental health risks.
Dr. Samateh inspected the progress of the remediation work and reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy on unsafe building materials in public health spaces.

From Mansa Konko, the delegation proceeded to Kudang, where local health officials highlighted the need for expanded maternal and child health services. At Brikamaba Health Center, the Minister reviewed ongoing renovations.

The final stop was Njaw Health Center, a site earmarked for future upgrades under the Ministry’s rural health expansion plan. Dr. Samateh praised the dedication of health workers serving in remote areas and pledged continued support through targeted investments and training programs.

The visits underscore the Ministry’s strategic push to close the gap between urban and rural health access and build a resilient, inclusive health system.
Dr. Samateh concluded the tour by reinforcing the government’s pledge to deliver quality healthcare to every corner of The Gambia.
