The Deputy Permanent Secretary (Technical) of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has indicated that the increasing demand for skilled Gambian youth in the hospitality sector, particularly through opportunities such as cruise ships, showcases the progress made in enhancing the capabilities of Gambian youth to serve within the industry.
Mr. Siaka Fadera made these remarks recently while speaking on behalf of the Honorable Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture during the closing ceremony of the training of trainers on competency-based training held at the National Authority for Quality Assurance offices in Kanifing.
He went on: “This demand, both at home and abroad, calls for greater investment in equipping our youth with relevant, high-quality skills that meet evolving industry needs, and certainly through the EU-YEP Tourism and Creative Industries Project,” he stated.
He further mentioned that this will be adequately handled together with the upcoming cultural centres and the ongoing transformation of the Gambia Tourism Hospitality Institute kitchen through the Tourism Diversification and Resilience in The Gambia Project, funded by the World Bank.
