GAF and ECOMIG hold gender mainstreaming in military peacekeeping operations workshop

The Gambia Armed Forces, in collaboration with the ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG) and other national security institutions, recently hosted- a one-day conference focused on gender mainstreaming in military peacekeeping operations.
The event is taking place at the GAF Training School in Fajara, It brings together key stakeholders from across the country’s security sector to discuss the integration of gender perspectives into peacekeeping missions.

Held under the theme “Gender Integration in Security Forces: Progress and Challenges,” the conference aims to evaluate ongoing efforts to promote gender equality within the armed forces and identify the obstacles hindering full inclusion.

Senior military officials, representatives from ECOMIG, the Gambia Police Force, and civil society actors are in attendance. The forum will feature panel discussions, presentations, and strategic planning sessions centred on best practices for gender-sensitive peace operations.
