SOUTH AFRICAN POLITICAL PARTIES PARTICIPATE IN MAY 29 GENERAL ELECTION

Today, South African political parties participating in the May 29th general elections will sign the Electoral Code of Conduct. The signing event is hosted by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Johannesburg. The pledge includes an acknowledgment of the IEC’s authority and requires signees to abstain from political violence. It also allows parties to challenge election results in court if they are dissatisfied. The signing comes amid concerns of potential violence, especially from the uMkhonto we Sizwe party led by former President Jacob Zuma. The final list of election candidates will be published on April 10, 2024. Do you think South Africa can expect to see significant political changes in the upcoming elections?
