Ministry of Gender Conducts Training of Trainers for Regional Officers on Small Grants Management

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare, through the Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) under the SWEDD Component 1.4, successfully conducted a four-day Training of Trainers (ToT) for regional officers and sub-component members. The training, held from February 19th to 22nd in Jarra Soma, Lower River Region (LRR), focused on enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills in the small grant process, data collection, and reporting to strengthen economic empowerment initiatives for adolescent girls aged 15 to 24.
The training aimed to equip regional officers with the necessary tools and expertise to efficiently manage the small grant process, ensure accurate data collection, and prepare comprehensive reports. These components are essential for the effective implementation and monitoring of small grants, which play a crucial role in supporting adolescent girls’ economic empowerment.
One of the key highlights of the training was an in-depth exploration of the small grant process. Participants were taken through the various stages, from application submission and grant approval to fund disbursement and monitoring. This session provided officers with a thorough understanding of grant management, ensuring they are well-prepared to oversee the process effectively.
In addition to grant management, the training emphasized ethical standards in data collection and dissemination. Participants were educated on the importance of maintaining confidentiality, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring the integrity of data. This component reinforced the need for ethical best practices in handling sensitive information, thereby improving the reliability and credibility of reports.
The final segment of the training focused on effective reporting techniques. Officers were guided on how to document data findings clearly and concisely, ensuring that reports are both meaningful and actionable. This skill is critical for tracking the progress and impact of the grants, enabling data-driven decision-making and accountability in program implementation.
Speaking at the closing session, officials from the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare underscored the significance of the training in bolstering the capacity of regional officers. By strengthening their skills in grant management, data collection, and reporting, the Ministry aims to enhance the overall efficiency and impact of the SWEDD project’s economic empowerment initiatives.
Participants expressed appreciation for the training, noting that the knowledge gained would significantly improve their ability to manage small grants and support beneficiaries effectively.
The Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) remains committed to advancing economic opportunities for adolescent girls through targeted capacity-building initiatives and financial support, ensuring their inclusion in sustainable development efforts.
