The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) has announced that Alports, the new concession company established under the Concession Agreement with Albayrak, has officially begun operations at the Port of Banjul. This marks the start of a 30-year partnership, with operations commencing on Friday, 14 February 2025, following the Effective Date of the Concession Agreement.
As a result, Alport will now be responsible for issuing operational instructions regarding the port facility’s operations. However, statutory state functions will remain under the mandate of designated offices. These include the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), the Gambia Police Force, the Gambia Immigration Department, Port Health, State Intelligence Services, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and other state security agencies deployed at the Port.
Additionally, third-party service providers such as the Single Window, SMG Dry Port, ECTN, Dock Labour Company, the National Transport Union, shipping agency services, and clearing & forwarding agents will continue to operate as usual.
