The closing ceremony was attended by Commissioners from various police formations and units, senior officers, government representatives, and invited guests.

Delivering the welcome remarks, the Assistant Inspector General of Police for PIU and Tactical Support Unit, Adeline Basangeh, welcomed the Turkish Ambassador, members of his delegation, representatives of the Police High Command, and other dignitaries present. AIG Basangeh acknowledged the longstanding cooperation between the Government of Türkiye and The Gambia Police Force, particularly in specialised training areas including VIP Protection, Special Operations in Urban Areas, and Public Order Management.

Speaking at the event, His Excellency Fahri Türker Oba, the Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia, expressed appreciation to the Police Leadership for the strong partnership and reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to continued collaboration through capacity-building initiatives and technical cooperation.

As part of the ceremony, trainees conducted a practical demonstration simulating a real-life riot management operation, showcasing the tactics, procedures, and operational protocols acquired during the training.

Representing the Inspector General of Police, Seedy Mukhtar Touray, the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Administration, Ebrima Bah, delivered the keynote address and commended both the trainees and facilitators for the successful execution of the programme.

He further expressed appreciation to the Turkish Gendarmerie for their invaluable contribution and continued partnership in strengthening policing capacity within The Gambia Police Force.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to participating officers and gifts to the trainers in recognition of their commitment and contribution to the programme.

The Gambia Police Force remains committed to strengthening the capacity and professionalism of its personnel through strategic partnerships and specialised training initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and promoting effective, accountable, and human rights-based policing.
