The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Friday accused the leaders of the opposition coalition of deceiving Nigerians.
He also challenged them to show Nigerians their achievements while in office.
The coalition group led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform to wrest power from the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2027 election.
Other leaders of the opposition coalition are the former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, former Senate President, David Mark and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The minister, who spoke with journalists in Abuja, made reference to a statement credited to the former ADC chairman, Ralph Nwosu, during the unveiling of the party’s interim executive committee on Wednesday in Abuja.
Nwosu had in his address at the event said the process on the formation of the coalition started 18 months ago.
In his reaction, Wike noted that if the coalition started 18 months ago, it means the opposition elements started the coalition just six months after President Bola Tinubu took office.
He said; ““Somebody came into office and in six months, they started a coalition saying that the man has not performed.
“But you had an opportunity to be senate president for eight years, you had an opportunity to be speaker for four years, you had an opportunity to be minister of transportation for eight years. He never made angry Nigerians to be happy.
“But someone stayed in office for six months and be started telling people how Nigerians are angry. What kind of people are you angry?”
“I have said, everybody show your scorecard. God gave you an opportunity to be in office to make Nigerians to be happy but you refused.
“Because you have left office, you are angry. You are saying Nigerians are angry. You want to come back to power. You won’t come back. You will not come back to power.”
