WAVE launches Women’s Transition into Economic program.

The WAVE (Women’s Association for Victims Empowerment) program, launched the Odyssey Program in partnership with the Alliance Francaise and the French Embassy, which focuses on promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality through various initiatives.

Key aspects include:
Art and Culture: The program utilizes art and culture to raise awareness about women’s rights and gender equality, engaging local artists and communities.
Capacity Building: It offers workshops and training sessions aimed at empowering young Gambian women, enhancing their skills and confidence
Support for Victims: The program provides mental health support including expressive art therapy for women victims, through our partnership with the ATJLF – Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund
Film Documentary: “Bleeding Blade” and “Unite for Bissau”
The documentary titled “Bleeding Blade” explores themes of violence and resilience within communities. While “Unite for Bissau” focuses on solidarity efforts in addressing social issues in Bissau. Both films aim to raise awareness about the challenges faced by marginalized groups, including women, and highlight the importance of community action in fostering change, challenging patriarchy including in the fight against FGM, and continuing the liberation struggle.
The program features meditation, relaxation, and expressive arts They sessions with a renowned trauma therapist from Norway
Items on sale also from women victims, and members of the Gambia Federation of the Disabled – showcasing talents of women with disabilities
