The United Democratic Party (UDP) has issued a statement acknowledging the recent resignations of some of its members, thanking them for their years of service while reaffirming the party’s commitment to its core values.
The party described the departing members as “valued and committed,” noting their contributions to advancing UDP’s ideals.
“We deeply appreciate the years of service they have dedicated to advancing the ideals and principles of our great party,” the statement read.
While stressing that the UDP’s principles remain unchanged, the party said it respected the decisions of those leaving, even if they had lost faith in the party or its leadership.
“Though our paths may diverge for now, those who depart will always be accorded the respect they deserve should we meet again,” it added.
The UDP reaffirmed its dedication to democracy, justice and progress, pledging to strengthen internal systems and uphold fairness and inclusivity.
It also urged former members to remain active in challenging governance failures and policy shortcomings in the country.
“The UDP will continue to stand as a beacon of hope for change, committed to ending the abysmal state of affairs and working tirelessly for a better future for The Gambia,” the party said.
