Two men, Modou Lamin Jammeh and Alieu Taal, were remanded at Mile II Central Prison on Tuesday as Kanifing Magistrates’ Court prepared to determine their bail conditions.
Principal Magistrate Sallah M’bai is hearing the case, and the accused persons are linked to shoplifting charges.
Inspector Kebbeh, appearing on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), told the court that the duo was charged with stealing from Francoise Noubissie’s shop. According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly stole four electrical bundles.
When the charges were read in a language they understood, Jammeh and Taal denied the allegations, insisting, “We were on our way to watch football; we didn’t steal anything.”
The prosecution requested an adjournment to allow time to secure witnesses, but did not oppose bail for the accused.
In her ruling, Principal Magistrate M’bai ordered the men to remain in custody until their bail conditions are determined. The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday, 3 December 2025, for the next hearing.
