Twin brothers Wednesday were in dock before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on allegations of assault causing actual bodily harm to a woman in Tanjai Village, Kombo South.
Sanna Suwareh and Hussain Suwareh, both Gambians, appeared before Magistrate Kanjura B. Sambou on a single count of assault causing actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 196 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025.
According to the charge sheet, the accused persons allegedly assaulted one Fatou Sanneh on or about 10th December 2025, beating her on various parts of her body and causing injuries. The offence is said to have occurred in Tanjai Village, within the Kombo South, West Coast Region.
The charge was read and explained to the accused persons in Mandinka language after being read in English. Both Sanna Suwareh and Hussain Suwareh pleaded “not guilty” to the charge.
Sgt 4812 J. Preirra appeared for the prosecution on behalf of the Inspector General of Police. The accused persons were not represented by a lawyer.
During the proceedings, the prosecuting officer applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to secure its witnesses. The court granted the application.
Magistrate Sambou adjourned the matter to Friday, 19th December 2025, for the consideration of bail by the substantive trial magistrate.
In the meantime, the accused persons were allowed to remain on police bail pending the next hearing.
