The National Assembly signs MOU with TANGO and GPU

 

In our efforts to bringing the parliament closer to the people the office of the Clerk on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gambia Press Union (GPU) and The Association of Nongovernmental Organisations (TANGO) facilitated by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD).

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Clerk for Admin and Finance Mr. Buba ME Jatta emphasised the importance of inclusive governance and the role of the press and civil society in holding the government accountable.
He also congratulated WFD for the facilitation and its commitment to supporting the mandate of the National Assembly.

The WFD Country Director, Ms. Tabou Njie Sarr underscored her commitment to supporting democratic processes through strengthening relations between CSOs and the Parliament.

The MoU seeks enable access, transfer and sharing of necessary information and decisions between the Parties as the basis to support each other to enhance efficiency, performance, transparency and accountability.
