Gabriel Oche Amanyi, known professionally in music circles as Terry G, has openly responded to the criticism directed at him for changing his name to “Terry Gzus” recently.
In a social media post, the musician said that the rebranding is not a stop but rather a “divinely redirected” course for his career and also insisted that his professional path has been miraculously rerouted rather than stopped.
The talented artiste rejected ideas that the new name has lessened his mission, seeing “Gzus” as a reflection of his self-assured and unrepentant character.

Terry G made it clear that “Gzus is not Jesus Christ but a reflection of the God in me—fearless, chosen, and unapologetic.” He underlined his conviction that “changing a name doesn’t kill purpose.” What is predetermined cannot be changed.
The musician wrote thus: “They say my career ended the day I became Terry Gzus.
‘‘But let me set the record straight: my journey didn’t end; it was divinely redirected. Gzus is not Jesus Christ but a reflection of the God in me—fearless, chosen, and unapologetic. You don’t kill purpose by changing a name. What’s ordained can’t be canceled.”
