Tensions are rising between authorities and drivers at the Gambia-Senegal border.

Tensions have escalated between authorities and drivers at the Kerr Ayib and Kerr Ali border villages along the Senegal-Gambia border. The conflict has intensified since the introduction of the Single Window system by the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) to regulate border trade and transport. Senegalese drivers have expressed frustration over vehicle tracking methods aimed at curbing fraudulent activities. However, sources suggest that the current conflict may be linked to a new border tax imposed by Gambian authorities, which has disrupted the movement of drivers from both countries. In response, a group of drivers is currently protesting. This footage underscores the growing problems and disruptions caused by the ongoing situation. The Station Officer of the Farafenni Police Station and the President of the Farafenni Transport Union were seen on the streets engaging with protesters. They assured that authorities are working to resolve the situation diplomatically and as swiftly as possible.
