Superstar Football Academy booked their place in the next round of the Brikama Sports Committee (BSC) Nawettan Knockout after a tense 4-2 penalty shootout victory over fellow academy side, New Generation FA, in the Round of 32.

The Kembujeh-based outfit and their rivals played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw during regulation time. New Generation FA took the lead just before halftime when Karamo Ceesay’s own goal, under heavy pressure, saw the ball end up in his own net.

Superstar FA responded in the 78th minute as winger Abdoulie Sanneh struck to level the score, sending the game into a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, Superstar FA held their nerve, converting all four of their attempts, while New Generation FA faltered, missing two crucial penalties. The result sent Superstar FA through to the Round of 16, keeping their hopes alive of turning around a difficult league campaign.

For New Generation FA, the loss was a bitter blow, but the side will now return to the drawing board as they prepare for the upcoming season, aiming to build on lessons learned from the knockout encounter.

Both sides showed flashes of quality, and the match offered a glimpse of the competitive spirit of the Nawettan tournament, which continues to showcase rising talent across Brikama.
