Sukuta Youth Pledges Support for Talib Bensouda Ahead of 2026 Presidential Elections

By Michaella Faith Wright

As the 2026 presidential election approaches, individual Gambians are beginning to state their political preferences. Among them is Sukuta-born youth Pato Jallow, a painter known for his role in efforts to organise Gambian artists into a national association, who has openly pledged his support to Kanifing Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda, describing him as his choice for the nation’s top job.

Jallow’s support has been expressed both symbolically and publicly. He has decorated his room with portraits of Bensouda and designed a jersey with the mayor’s image, gestures he describes as a sign of “total commitment” to the 2026 campaign. “Pato Jallow is officially Team Talib Bensouda,” he said, adding that he is ready to campaign actively ahead of the polls.

According to Jallow, his decision is based on his assessment of Bensouda’s leadership. “I see Talib as the most deserving and qualified person for the job as the next president. His track record is really impressive, and we have seen the signs in him as a good leader,” he remarked. He further said his support stems from conviction and optimism: “We are going to make it happen in 2026, Inshallah.”
