The first batch of the Gambia National Scorpions arrived in Nairobi on Monday evening as they prepare for upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Gabon and Mauritius.

Among the initial arrivals were key players Musa Barrow, Yankuba Minteh, Mouhamadou Drammeh, Alagie Saine, Joseph Lars Ceesay, and James Gomez. Head Coach Johnathan McKinstry had already reached Nairobi on Friday, with local staff joining the squad at its base, Glee Hotel. Additional players are expected to arrive in the coming days, according to the Gambia Football Federation (GFF).

The team held its first training session on Tuesday. Defender Alagie Saine is also set to receive his man-of-the-match award for his performance in the Scorpions’ 2-0 win over Burundi during the last qualifying window.

The Scorpions are scheduled to face Gabon in Nairobi on Friday, before traveling to Mauritius for an away match against Seychelles on October 14, which will close the current World Cup qualifying round.
