Sally Jarju attends the Africa CDC workshop in Ethiopia

Selected Media Personnel from fifteen African countries including the President of the Association of Health Journalists The Gambia Sally Jarju are currently attending a two day workshop courtesy of Africa Centre for Disease control ACDC. The program is the first of it’s kind by ACDC to expose participants to the mandate of ACDC & it’s strategic plan 2023 to 2027. The workshop will also discuss on how best to strengthen collaboration between media networks, and ACDC inoder to promote effective reporting on health emergencies. Dr Raji Tajudeen deputy director of ACDC presided over the opening ceremony reaffirming their commitment to partner with all relevant stakeholders including journalists for the realization of the targeted goals. He also described the role of the media as crucial in promoting a healthy continent, arguing that Africa cannot progress if it continues to struggle with numerous public health issues. As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to visit ACDC emergency operation centre, and museum at it’s headquarters in Addis Ababa.
