The prime suspect in the murder of two students of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Oladele Femi, is dead.
Femi, a landlord, was fingered as the mastermind of the students’ murder in June this year.
The victims – John Abba and his female friend, Eloho Okah – were declared missing on June 20.
Residents alleged that Oladele, popularly known as “Tallex” masterminded the students’ killing and buried their corpses in a shallow grave.
The landlord was arrested alongside two other suspects, and the Lexus RX 350 vehicle belonging to Abba was recovered from one of the suspects.
Police investigations revealed that the sum of N800,000 was transferred from Abba’s account during their captivity.
The spokesman for the state police command, Olushola Ayanlade, told journalists on Saturday that Femi died in the hospital.
He said the suspect had been receiving treatment since he was arrested and confessed to the crime, after developing a strange illness.
“Yes, he is dead. He had been under medical supervision since he was arrested, and he had been in and out of the hospital.
“He passed away yesterday (Friday).
“As of now, the decomposing remains of Okah have been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to locate Abba’s body,” the spokesman added.
Ayanlade said that two additional suspects, identified as Kola and Michael, who allegedly withdrew the sum of N800,000 from Abba’s account, have been arrested.
