President Barrow made verbal attack on Lawyer Darboe at Brikama NPP bureau inauguration.

In a speech that sparked significant attention and debate, President Adama Barrow made bold declarations regarding his political future and his rival, Ousainou Darboe, during the inauguration of the National People’s Party (NPP) headquarters in Brikama. The event, attended by numerous NPP supporters and officials, marked a pivotal moment for the party.
President Barrow began by expressing his gratitude to the NPP members who worked tirelessly to establish the new headquarters. He emphasized the importance of unity and progress within the party, underscoring the NPP’s commitment to national development. However, the highlight of his speech came when he addressed his political rival, Ousainou Darboe, leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP).
In a strikingly defiant tone, President Barrow declared, “I will remain in office and continue my political career until the death of Ousainou Darboe. Only then will I consider stepping down and paving the way for a new president.” This statement, unprecedented in its directness, drew a mixture of gasps and applause from the crowd.
Barrow elaborated on his position, explaining that his commitment to serving The Gambia and its people was unwavering. He criticized Darboe for his persistent attacks on the NPP and his administration, suggesting that Darboe’s political agenda was rooted in negativity and division.
“Mr. Darboe has spent years trying to undermine our efforts and sow discord among Gambians,” Barrow asserted. “But let it be clear: I am here to lead and to bring about the development our nation deserves. My dedication to this cause will not waver.”
The president’s remarks did not stop there. He went on to state, “I will attend Darboe’s funeral to confirm his death before considering stepping down.” This statement, though provocative, was intended to emphasize Barrow’s determination to see his political vision through to completion.
The crowd’s reaction was mixed, with some supporters cheering enthusiastically while others appeared taken aback by the bluntness of Barrow’s statements. Nevertheless, the president’s message was clear: he is committed to his role and will not be deterred by his opponents.
In the remainder of his speech, President Barrow highlighted the achievements of his administration, including infrastructure projects, improvements in healthcare and education, and efforts to boost the economy. He called on NPP members to remain united and focused on their shared goals, urging them to continue working towards the betterment of The Gambia.
The inauguration of the NPP’s Brikama headquarters marks a new chapter for the party as it continues to expand its influence across the country. President Barrow’s remarks have undoubtedly added a new layer of intensity to the political discourse in The Gambia, signaling that the road ahead will be anything but dull.
As Gambian politics remain dynamic and contentious, President Barrow’s declarations underscore his resolve to maintain his position and continue leading the nation. His speech serves as a reminder of the high stakes in Gambian politics and the determination of its key players to shape the future of the country.
