PAP Reveals Ambitious Manifesto Ahead of 2026 Presidential Election

By Dawda Baldeh

The opposition People’s Alliance Party (PAP) has revealed its manifesto anchored on addressing pressing issues affecting the nation’s growth ahead of the 2026 presidential election.

The manifesto will outline how the party intends to run the affairs of the country if elected.

This includes education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, security, unemployment, poverty reduction, and judicial reform, among others.

In a statement, the party leader, Ebrma Tabora Manneh, a businessman and politician, said their government will serve with honesty to promote the interests of every Gambian.

He noted that a PAP-led government will end its robust security measures to address crimes in the country.

“It’s not easy to trust politicians, but I want Gambians to give PAP a chance to change the narrative,” he said.

“We will build a nation to foster unity, mutual trust, honesty, industriousness, self-reliance, meritocracy, and respect for elders.”

He added that their manifesto will be fully implemented to make a real impact.

“We will jealously defend and protect the interests of Gambians, especially our youth and security sector,” he disclosed.

According to him, PAP will endeavour to create jobs so that Gambians will have meaningful employment to be self-reliant and live in dignity.

He also announced plans for the establishment of pious and responsible religious leaders, a council of elders from various regions and ethnic groups who will promote the country’s harmony and tolerance in accordance with our core values and beliefs.

Mr. Manneh stressed that if elected, he will not only stop at creating jobs, but will also encourage people to work hard and inculcate ownership in their minds.

“We will discourage dependency, selfishness, greed, and corruption at all levels,” he explained.

The businessman, now politician, further revealed that his government will support Gambian businesses to reduce the dependency on imported goods and services.

“We will decentralize development in all regions and promote positive cultural and religious values so that we continue to strive, work, and pray in unity and be ever true to The Gambia and all Gambians,” he added.

In the area of agriculture, PAP leader revealed that they will provide much-needed machinery and equipment (e.g. tractors, power tillers, harvesters, etc) at an affordable cost and repayment to be spread over a decade or more and as well as storage facilities where agricultural products can be stored and preserved before being transited to the market or to the customers.

“Our administration will play a critical role in ensuring the existence of a fair market value for agricultural produce and will promote adding value to our locally grown produce, such
as, but not limited to, groundnut, cashew-nuts, mangoes, tomatoes, pepper, etc,” he promised.
