NEW COMMUNITY CLINIC OPENS IN TALLINDING

The community of Tallinding North on Thursday 26th March 2026 witnessed the inauguration of a new health facility at a ceremony characterized by drumming, singing and dancing.

In his inaugural address, Musa Camara Regional Director of Health Services Western 1 recognizes that the achievement wouldn’t have possible without the dedication and collaboration of the Tallinding community, donor partners, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders. He urged the healthcare staff to serve with compassion, professionalism and integrity. To the community, Mr Camara advised them to take ownership of the facility, use it responsibly by supporting it’s maintenance, staff and continue to advocate for more resources for its sustainability

The facility, Mr Camara added is a collective efforts made to ensure quality health service delivery for the catchment areas of Tallinding North and beyond. Today is more than the opening of a health facility but a beginning of a new era in the health and wellbeing of this community. The clinic he said, represents hope, progress and our shared commitment to ensuring that quality healthcare is not just optional for a few but a fundamental human rights for all.
Access to health is one of the most fundamental pillars of a thriving society, when a community is healthy, it is empowered. Children can regularly attend school, parents can work at ease to provide for their families and the elderly can live in dignity and care. The clinic according to Mr Camara brings essential services closer to the people by reducing long travel distances, easing financial burden on individuals, families, societies and the nation.
Let this clinic stands as a symbol of what we can achieve when we work together. May it brings healing to the sick, comfort to those in need and hope to every person who walks through its doors, he concluded.

Honourable Baboucarr Mansally Councilor of Tallinding North said the day marks a significant milestone in his community’s journey towards progress and development. The celebration, he lamented is not just the completion of a physical structure but the realization of a collective dream that has shaped our ward for now, the future and generations yet unborn.

Councilor Mansally reminded them of a pledge he made when he was seeking for his reelection that that he would give more emphasis on health and wellbeing of my people. That promise has been fulfilled today with the completion of this magnificent edifice. I firmly believe that Health is Wealth and any leadership that does not prioritize her people’s physical viability is deem incomplete and unfit. I am thrilled, Honorable Mansally went on , to announce the completion of the Tallinding North Ward Community Clinic Project .

The project, he stated stands as a testament that when we made promises, we need to keep them. The facility serves as a beacon of hope and a model for early childhood health support in the Gambia. No great achievement is reached in isolation. He elaborated that the initiative was made possible through the generous and unwavering support of Consejero de Cooperacion Institucional y Solidaridad Internacional del Cabildo de Gran Canaria and in partnership with ONG Ser Humano. He commended them for their commitment to their vision which has transformed the site in to a sanctuary of healing. Mansally also extended gratitude to the Ministry of Health for guidance and they will be responsible for the overall operations of the clinic inorder to ensure it provided quality and adequate health care to the people of Tallinding North and to a larger extend Gambia as a whole.

For now, the clinic will operate as a Reproductive and Child Health Clinic. Mansally highlighted mothers, young women and children as the main priority as the children he puts it are the future of Tallinding.

In closing, he urged the community to see the clinic as their own . Periodic maintenance will be needed for the upkeep and sustainability of the facility.

The inauguration was witnessed by several high ranking official’s including National Assembly members, councillors, village heads, imams and thousands of community residents.
