National Assembly Receives Mid-Year Budget Performance Brief

The National Assembly today received the Mid-Year 2025 Budget Performance Brief during the Third Ordinary Session of the Sixth Legislature in the 2025 Legislative Year. The report was delivered by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr Seedy Keita, in accordance with parliamentary procedure.

The brief outlined revenue collection and expenditure performance for the first half of the year, noting significant revenue growth alongside increased spending, which has led to a provisional deficit.

The presentation was made pursuant to Order 94(1) of the National Assembly Standing Orders, which requires the Vice-President or the Minister of Finance to provide the Assembly with an oral statement at least once in each session on the implementation and monitoring of the annual budget.

In his statement, the Honourable Minister observed that “the revenue over-performance underscores positive momentum in our fiscal mobilisation efforts,” attributing the outcome to greater efficiency in tax administration.

The report also included a detailed breakdown of budget execution across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
