National Assembly Delegation Attends Governance Seminar in China

 

A delegation from The National Assembly is currently in Beijing, China, attending a 3- week seminar on Governance Capacity Building for China Belt and Road Countries. The Seminar, which runs from Thursday, 12 June to 3rd July, is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and organized by the University of Chines Academy of Social Sciences.

The Gambia delegation led by Hon. Sankung Damhpa, Member for Illiassa comprises Hon. Almameh Gibba, Member for Foni Kansala; Hon. Muhmed Kanteh Member Busumbala, and Isatou Kassama, Diretor of Hansard.

The seminar aims to exchange theories and experiences in governance, jointly explore and address challenges that constrain development and difficulties encountered in the process, collaboratively promote the socio-economic development of China and countries along the Belt and Road, enhance the well-being of the people, while strengthening friendly and cooperative relations between China and these nations, conveying friendship and deepening cooperation.

In a statement delivered at the opening ceremony, Hon. Sankung Dampha commended the Chinese Government through the Ministry of Commerce for bringing together people from different backgrounds and countries and the lead in bridging the gap between member states of the Belt and Road Initiative Countries.

He noted that China as a key partner of the Gambia has collaborated in the areas such as technical cooperation, infrastructure development, education, and health care.
He concluded by calling all Member states of the B&R Initiative towards a strong partnership, a clear vision and commitment to development.
