The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vision Development Foundation and a well known philanthropist throughout the sub region has this morning slaughtered over thirty cows in preparation of the Muslim feast of Eid – ul Fitr or commonly called Koriteh. The meat which was sold out to the general public especially the middle class and the poor at a giveaway price of D300 per kilogram containing bones and meat and D400 dalasi for beef.
As early as 7am , the roadside opposite Buffer zone was filled to capacity as citizens converged from all parts of KM and the surroundings to buy reasonable meat for their families inorder to enjoy the Koriteh after a month long fasting.
Jerreh Ceesay who came all the way from Abu Sey junction in Abuko told this reporter that he was not far from the Abbatoire where they sell meet but it was expensive. I have a big family and needs at least 8kg of meat, here at buffer zone under TURO intervention I was able to buy ten. He added that every Gambian is aware of the good things Momodou Turo Darboe is doing and we are praying for his continuous good heath and long life so that such initiative could continue.
Another one Awa Njie from Ebo Town also expressed similar compliments about Turo Darboe.
Momodou Turo Darboe is a Gambian philanthropist whose philanthropic work is not limited to only in the Gambia but across the borders to Senegal and Mali. During the Ramadan, everyday hundreds flocked at his Churchill’s town and Bakau offices to collect their daily iftaar meals. He has distributed thousands of bags of sugar and rice worth millions of dalasi.
