Ministry of Justice Grants Utility Model for Eco-Friendly Waste Recycling Innovation

 

The Ministry of Justice, through the Registry General and the of Industrial Property Office, has granted a Utility Model Certificate to Fatou Badjie and Pa Momo Sanneh for their invention titled ECO INNOVATION HUB.

Registered under Patent No. GMIM/2025100001, the invention introduces a sustainable method for recycling waste into oil, combining waste management, energy generation, and material recovery. The certification, issued on June 2, 2025, reflects the government’s commitment to supporting homegrown, environmentally friendly innovations.

Mr. Abdoulie Colley, Registrar General, praised the inventors, stating:
“This is a proud moment for Gambian innovation. It demonstrates our potential to respond to environmental challenges through sustainable, locally driven solutions.”

Developed in Busumbala and Sukuta, the ECO INNOVATION HUB aims to reduce pollution and promote clean energy alternatives. The Ministry encourages more Gambians to protect and scale their innovations through the national IP system, reinforcing a culture of creativity and environmental responsibility.
