The Mayor of Kanifing Municipality, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, recently responded to critics and highlighted the accomplishments of his parents in national development. Mr. Bensouda has been the subject of discussions regarding his ‘Nar’ origin and his potential bid for the UDP flag bearer for the 2026 presidential election. He shared this information on his personal platform this morning:“Lately I have been asked a lot about my parents and their service to the country. This has inspired me to share some details about the roles they held while in government. A Journey of Service. Amie Bensouda served as both Parliamentary Counsel and Solicitor General and Legal Secretary (Attorney General’s Chambers & Ministry of Justice of the Gambia) from 1981 to 1995. Ahmed Bensouda served as Cadet Economist, Principal Economist (Ministry of Finance), and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and the State House from 1980 to 1994.”Mayor Bensouda expressed his gratitude for having the best two advisers a politician could have. He also highlighted the importance of serving the nation, especially after coming across photos with Sir Dawda Jawara.
