Manneh Calls on Tujereng Residents to Vote for “Better Change”

By Isatou Sarr

Opposition leader Ebrima Tabora Manneh of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP) on Saturday urged residents of Tujereng to support his presidential bid, pledging to deliver “better change” for all Gambians as the nation heads toward the 2026 elections.

Mr. Manneh visited the community ahead of a major rally later in the evening, where hundreds of supporters welcomed him, waving brooms—the party’s symbol of political cleansing and renewal. PAP is one of 22 registered parties contesting the December 2026 presidential election.

Speaking on behalf of Tujereng’s women, Fatou Sonko Nuim Kafo said their backing of Manneh stems from the daily struggle’s women face. “Gambian women wake up as early as 4 a.m., working in markets, garages, and small businesses just to provide for their families,” she said. “We never followed politics, but when Ebrima Tabora Manneh joined, we saw real intention and purpose. The country is difficult, and we need someone willing to rescue us. Let’s vote for him for better change.”

Addressing the crowd, Mr. Manneh highlighted nationwide challenges, including hunger, unemployment, rising living costs, and youth frustrations. He emphasized that his approach to politics is solution-driven, not confrontational.

“I don’t waste time insulting or arguing with people. In our party, we maintain peace. We don’t attack anyone. Everything we do is with truth and respect. Gambians have minds, and they will decide,” he said.

He also drew attention to pressing social issues, including school dropouts, unemployment, drug abuse among youth, and increased migration attempts. “These conditions reflect deep national hardship and require urgent leadership and commitment,” he said.

Manneh pledged that, if elected, his administration would establish a fair and equitable system for all Gambians, emphasizing peace, dignity, and cultural pride. “I want to sign a contract with Gambians. We have signed our part; now it is up to Gambians to sign theirs. If you put this country in my hands, every Gambian will be proud to be called a Gambian,” he told supporters.

He concluded by urging citizens to believe in themselves, embrace their culture, and work together to restore the nation’s dignity.
