Kuntaur Area Council Leadership Undergoes Major Shake-Up

Senior officials at the Kuntaur Area Council (KTR AC) have reportedly been transferred to the Basse Area Council in what sources describe as a significant administrative shake-up.

Reliable sources within the council told this medium that Chief Executive Officer Momodou Sambou and Internal Auditor Abdou Njie have received transfer notices. The development follows the recently concluded Local Government Commission (LGC) inquiry, which is said to have uncovered extensive allegations of mismanagement and misappropriation of council funds and assets.

“I can confirm that the CEO, Momodou Sambou, and Internal Auditor, Abdou Njie, have been transferred to the Basse Area Council. However, they have not vacated their offices yet, nor have they handed over to their successors,” an insider at KTR AC disclosed.

The source said the reasons for the immediate transfers were not officially communicated, but noted that some sources suggest both officials were implicated in the findings of the LGC report. The insider also confirmed that Finance Director Morro Keita has been elevated to the position of CEO, while a replacement for the internal auditor has yet to be announced.

Attempts by this reporter to reach Sambou and Njie were unsuccessful. However, incoming CEO Morro Keita confirmed his appointment, saying he had handed over his former office to newly appointed Finance Director Mustapha Jagne on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.

Keita added that he has yet to assume his new duties fully, as the formal handing-over process for the CEO’s office is still pending.

The administrative changes come amid growing public concern over alleged irregularities at the Kuntaur Area Council, including reported clandestine sales of two tractors acquired from the Janneh Commission, issues relating to the maintenance of Chairman Saihou Jawara’s official vehicle, and the sale of other council-owned vehicles.
