JAC Chairman Disburses D800,000 to Support Ward Development Projects

In a significant move to boost local development initiatives, the Chairman of the Janjangbureh Area Council (JAC), Sulayman Sawaneh, disbursed a total of Eight Hundred Thousand Dalasis (D800,000) to fifteen councilors on Wednesday, 22nd August 2024.

The financial aid, aimed at supporting various ward development projects, was distributed among twelve elected councilors and three nominated councilors. Each of the twelve elected councilors received D50,000, while the three nominated councilors were given D40,000 each.

Chairman Sawaneh emphasized the importance of these funds in enhancing the councilors’ ability to implement meaningful development activities within their respective wards. He expressed optimism that the disbursement would directly contribute to the progress of the communities they represent, stating, “We hope that these funds will be judiciously used for the intended purpose of fostering development in our wards.”

The council’s initiative reflects its commitment to empowering local leaders and ensuring that resources are available to meet the needs of the communities. The disbursement comes as part of the council’s broader strategy to support grassroots development and improve the living standards of the residents in the Janjangbureh area.

Local councilors have expressed gratitude for the financial support, noting that the funds will significantly aid in the execution of various projects that have been on hold due to a lack of resources. They assured the Chairman and the council that the funds would be utilized effectively to bring about tangible improvements in their wards.

The Janjangbureh Area Council’s decision to directly empower councilors with financial resources highlights a proactive approach to governance and community development, ensuring that local leaders have the necessary tools to address the needs of their constituents.
