International Voluntary Mental Health Organization Conducts Mental Health Awareness Training at Yunus English School

In a remarkable initiative to promote mental health awareness among young learners, the International Voluntary for Mental Health Organization organized an insightful training session earlier today at Yunus English School. The session saw the participation of 50 students from various grades, all eager to enhance their understanding of mental health and its importance.

The training session aimed to sensitize students on different aspects of mental health, equipping them with knowledge to better navigate challenges in their personal and academic lives. Key topics covered included the distinction between mental health and mental illness, factors that can trigger mental illnesses, various types of mental disorders, and the significance of seeking timely help when facing mental health challenges. Additionally, practical self-care practices were shared with the students to encourage proactive mental wellness.

Facilitating the session were renowned mental health advocates and professionals Samba Baldeh, Mariama Fatty, Musa Gassama, and Mariatou Jallow. Their combined expertise and engaging delivery ensured the students received valuable insights in a relatable and age-appropriate manner.

“Mental health is an integral part of overall well-being, and empowering young people with this knowledge is crucial for building resilient communities,” emphasized Samba Baldeh during his presentation.

The participating students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn about such an essential yet often overlooked topic. Many highlighted the relevance of the session in helping them better understand their emotions and recognize when to seek support.

This initiative is part of the International Voluntary for Mental Health Organization’s broader commitment to raising awareness and addressing mental health issues, particularly among the youth. The organization continues to play a pivotal role in fostering healthier and more informed communities through education and advocacy.

As mental health challenges become increasingly prevalent in today’s fast-paced world, initiatives like this serve as a critical reminder of the importance of early intervention and continuous awareness efforts.
