The Director General of the Gambia Immigration Department, Ebrima Mboob highlighted that Gambia has attained significant strive to adhere to the ECOWAS protocol of visa-free entry of its citizens noting that giant steps have been taken in the implementation of the ECOWAS treaty.
“Since the launch of the biometric system in 2018, the Gambia has made a significant strive ”
He spoke at length on the significance of the forum noting that Gambia is proud to showcase its progress in the ECOWAS treaty.
He was speaking at the opening of the 8th ECOWAS Heads of Immigration Meeting Underway In Banjul
The 8th Heads of Immigration Meeting of the ECOWAS National Biometric Identity Card (ENBIC and the abolishing of the 90-day stay limit /Resident Permit for Community Citizens is underway at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center, Bijilo.
Apart from the breakaway Sahelian states of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, all other member states are in attendance.
During the two-day meeting, delegates will elaborate and validate Roadmap for the abolishing the 90-day stay limitation/Resident Permit in the Member States.
The forum will consider the report of the MIDWA expert meeting.
