Hakeem reacts to distractors: “Our commitment to holding the government accountable is unbendable.”

Hakeem Touray, a Gunjur-born patriotic youth and GALA member uses his social media platform to address some unfounded claims made by certain self-proclaimed concerned youths regarding their GALA group.
He clarified that the GALA group stands as a beacon of hope and unity among youths from various backgrounds and cultures.

” While our differences enrich our perspectives, it is our shared commitment to accountability and integrity that binds us together. We are a collective that refuses to be swayed by the irrelevant stones thrown at us by those who seek to undermine our mission. These detractors, often motivated by a desire to curry favour with the officials of the Gambian government, attempt to tarnish our reputation by labelling us as pawns of opposition political parties. However, we know the truth: our movement is rooted in the genuine desire for change and justice.”

Hakeem Touray further clarified that he had never engaged in any discussion with opposition politicians before their peaceful protests, pointing out that their actions stem from a deep-seated belief in the need for transparency and accountability within our government institutions.

“We are not driven by political affiliations but by a collective yearning for a better Gambia for all citizens.

Our commitment to holding the government accountable is unbendable. We stand firmly against corruption and advocate for integrity in every facet of governance. We understand that the path we have chosen is fraught with challenges, but we are undeterred. Our resolve is strengthened by the knowledge that we are not alone, we are part of a movement that seeks to empower the voices of the youth and foster a culture of accountability.”

To those who find it difficult to accept our mission, we say this: your scepticism will not deter us. If you cannot embrace the vision of a just and equitable Gambia, perhaps it is time to reconsider your place in this nation. We are here to stay, and we will continue to fight for the rights and dignity of every Gambian. Together, we will rise above the noise and distractions, focusing instead on the meaningful change we seek to bring to our beloved country.
