The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) is implementing a new Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS), a transformative digital platform designed to enhance efficiency and improve taxpayer services across the country.
The implementation of the new system was made possible through the support of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs.
The introduction of ITAS marks a major milestone in GRA’s modernization drive, aimed at automating tax processes and delivering faster, more transparent, and more user-friendly services. The system introduces a range of electronic functions, including e-registration, e-filing, and e-payment, as part of GRA’s broader digital transformation strategy.
As part of this commitment, GRA on Monday held a training and discussion session at the Senegambia Beach Hotel for representatives from key government institutions and the private sector to build their understanding of the new system and gather feedback on its implementation. Members of the media were present to cover the event.
Speaking at the opening, ITAS Project Manager, Mr. Samba Sallah, said the engagement was part of ongoing efforts to train users and exchange ideas to ensure a smooth transition to digital tax administration. He explained that the project, funded by the World Bank through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, seeks to strengthen transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
“The purpose of this engagement is not only to train users but also to exchange ideas that will make the system more responsive and effective,” Mr. Sallah said. “ITAS is designed to simplify processes and make tax administration more accessible for both taxpayers and GRA staff.”
Delivering the opening statement, Deputy Commissioner General Essa Jallow described ITAS as a “transformational reform” that will redefine how taxpayers interact with the Authority.
“Taxpayers will be able to register, file returns, make payments, and request refunds entirely online,” he said. “It’s a reform that promotes efficiency, transparency, and convenience for all.”
