Gambia’s New IGP Calls for End to Hate Speech and Insults.

The Inspector General of the Gambia Police Force, Seedy Muctar Touray, called on Gambians to put an end to hate speech and insults and vowed to uphold justice without biases. He expressed particular concern over the issuing of multiple land documents, which has led to numerous disputes, and promised to implement tougher measures to resolve these issues decisively. The Inspector General also emphasized the need for respect towards elders and leaders. Addressing critical issues such as land disputes and drug trafficking, IGP Touray outlined a comprehensive strategic vision for addressing major societal and operational challenges within The Gambia Police Force. He announced plans to enhance the use of forensic evidence in criminal investigations and highlighted the lack of adequate mobility and the urgent need for digitalization to streamline workflow and records management. Additionally, he discussed resource allocation, including plans to provide more uniforms to officers and to construct six additional model police stations across the nation. The Inspector General’s address underlined his commitment to leading the Gambia Police Force toward a more disciplined, efficient, and community-focused future, emphasizing the importance of public support in restoring trust and confidence in the police.
