The Financial Reporting Oversight Board of the Gambia, otherwise known as FROB, recently inaugurated its standard committee at a ceremony held at the prestigious Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center at Bijilo. The ceremony, which was officially presided over by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Abdoulie Jallow, on behalf of his minister, attracted scores of top officials, including lawmakers, policymakers, business leaders and sector regulators.
Sulaiman Fode Drame, the Executive Secretary of FROB in his welcoming remarks, said the day marks a significant milestone in the journey to enhance financial reporting in the Gambia. This, he said, will build investors’ confidence in investing in the country, thereby promoting robust economic development.
The President of Gambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (GICA), Paul Gaye, advised auditors and accountants to always carry out their work accurately and diligently while assuring them of his office’s continuous support and collaboration.
Abdoulie Jallow, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, who inaugurated the committee on behalf of his minister, delved into the importance of financial reporting. He assured the standard committee of the Ministry’s support.
At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between FROB Gambia and its sister institute in Nigeria, FRC Nigeria, and also between FROB and PURA.
