Farato residents calls for timely rehabilitation of works as streets remain flooded.

The residents of Farato,Kombo south expressed frustration over the poor condition of their streets.

Since the beginning of the rainy season,most streets within the settlement remained waterlogged as a result of flashflood.

” Normally the councillors wait until the rainy season to started rehabilitation of street.Its not brilliant idea, street should be properly constructed but not to rush because of the rainy season” Ba-Jimbo Njie said

At the Nescafe Junction, drivers often deviated the flooded area to protect their vehicles from development mechanical problems.

” We can’t look at the interest of the passengers and damage our vehicles.Some streets are waterlogged and vehicles might have breakdown if we try to ply the route” Sam Fofana ,a taxi driver asserted.

At the Camara Kunda Junction,some residents appealed to the Village development Committee as well as the Brikama Area Council to construct their streets with cement concrete.

” Pouring red gravel on the street is not sustainable,we need proper road network”Fatou Njie said.

The VDC chairman and the Alkalo were not immediately available for comment but will endeavor to get their reaction to the concerns of the Farato residents.
