Ex-Soldier Abdoulie Sanyang faces multiple charges in court

 

The police have arrived with Former Gambian Armed Forces soldier Abdoulie Sanyang at the Kanifing Magistrate Court for a possible arraignment before a Magistrate.

Abdoulie Sanyang was arrested at Banjul International Airport on Sunday, August 17, 2025, after his appearance on West Coast Radio’s “Coffee Time with Peter Gomez,” where he made several allegations, which the Government stated had “significant national security implications.”

During the interview, Sanyang alleged that the 2021 presidential election was rigged through the illegal registration of non-Gambians facilitated by Ambassador Sheikh Omar Faye. He also made a claim regarding the ongoing murder trial of Ousainou Bojang and his sister Amie Bojang, stating that the government was behind the crime.

Also, he and others were behind the burning of the APRC political bureau

Sources indicate that Abdoulie Sanyang will be formally charged with four offences:

1. Arson, contrary to section 283 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.

2. Seditious intention, contrary to section 48 sub (2) (a) and punishable under section 50 sub (1)(a) of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.

3. Incitement to violence, contrary to section 58 sub (1) (a) of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.

4. Offences relating to judicial proceedings, contrary to section 99 (1) (i) of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
