Essaili Family Lifts Local Businesses with Modern Business Centre in Kotu

The Essaili family has officially opened to the public a newly constructed City Centre, a state-of-the-art business hub, on Saturday, along Bertil Harding Highway in Kotu, Kanifing Municipality in Gambia.

The City Centre General Manager, Ali Essaili, who joyfully received the guests, revealed that his family has been committed to the nation’s economic growth and that the centre was built to uplift local businesses and create hundreds of jobs with ease and convenience.

“We built this centre with the belief that The Gambia deserves world-class retail facilities, modern, accessible, and reflective of the country’s dynamic spirit,” he stated.

Minister of Defense, who also oversees the  Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment, Baboucarr O. Joof, said that the opening of City Centre is a proud moment for both the Essaili family and the nation. He described the investment as a strong vote of confidence in The Gambia’s stable business environment and the government’s support for private enterprises.

“City Centre represents jobs for Gambians, opportunities for local suppliers, and a boost to commerce and tourism along the Bertil Harding Highway corridor,” Minister Joof said.

Minister of Tourism and Culture, Abdoulie Jobe, highlighted the project’s significance for the tourism and hospitality sectors, noting that modern shopping facilities complement The Gambia’s appeal to visitors.

“City Centre is more than a commercial complex; it symbolizes renewed energy, modern enterprise, and the growing attractiveness of The Gambia as an investment destination,” he said.

Staff representative, Mustapha Joof, also expressed gratitude to the Essaili family for their care and support to employees, and for also providing a friendly work environment.

The official opening ceremony was climaxed by ribbon-cutting and a conducted tour of the new modern business structure with laudatory comments by Government officials and others present- saying that the City Centre is not a just a shopping destination but a symbol of partnership destination but a symbol of partnership, progress, and confidence in The Gambia’s future, demonstrating that private sector investment can drive jobs, commerce, and tourism nationwide.
