The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) joins the global community in commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025, a day dedicated to promoting the rights, dignity and full inclusion of persons with disabilities in all spheres of life. This year’s theme:
“Fostering Disabilities Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress”, is a reminder that genuine development is only possible when every member of society is able to participate equally and meaningfully.
The Commission reaffirms its commitment to working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that disability inclusion is mainstreamed across laws, policies, programmes and service delivery. Building an inclusive society requires an attitudinal change, recognizing that disability is not a limitation, but a form of human diversity that enriches our society.
On this day, the NHRC celebrates the resilience, contributions, and leadership of persons with disabilities across The Gambia.
