Edo PDP clears aspirants for National Assembly by-elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has cleared aspirants for the July 21 primaries for the National Assembly by-elections in the state.

Those cleared for the Edo Central Senatorial district ticket are John Yakubu, Friday Itulah, and Joe Okojie.

For Ovia Federal Constituency, only one aspirant, Johnny Aikpitanyi, was screened and cleared as the party’s sole candidate for the House of Representatives by-election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct by-election in Edo and 11 other states on August 12.

The Edo Central Senatorial District seat became vacant following Governor Monday Okpebholo’s victory in the September 21, 2024, governorship election in the state.

The Ovia Federal Constituency seat was vacated by the Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa.
