The Drug Law Enforcement Agency The Gambia (DLEAG) has arrested several individuals, including a 16-year-old Senegalese national, in a series of operations targeting prohibited and controlled substances across the country.
The juvenile suspect was apprehended at Kalagi Checkpoint on April 8, 2026, with 1,654 pills of ecstasy and two wraps of suspected crystal meth, concealed in a plastic bag and hidden inside a flat-screen television.
In separate operations conducted across various locations including Farato, Brikama, Bakau, Tanji, Barra and other parts of the country, DLEAG officers arrested numerous suspects found in possession of suspected cannabis sativa, kush, crack cocaine, crystal meth, ecstasy, and hashish.
Among those arrested are residents from different communities, including both Gambians and foreign nationals. The seizures involved significant quantities of drugs, often concealed in bags, clothing, food containers, and other personal items.
DLEAG confirmed that all suspects are currently in custody, with investigations ongoing into their respective cases.
The agency reiterated its commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, warning that operations will continue nationwide as part of efforts to safeguard public health and security.
