DG Mboob Elevates 526 Junior Officers in Historic Promotion Drive

In a landmark move that signals renewed trust and momentum in institutional reform, the Director General of Immigration, Ebrima Mboob, promoted 526 junior officers across the Gambia Immigration Department (GID) on Friday, 10th October 2025.

This historic promotion—one of the largest in recent memory—reflects the GID’s commitment to fairness, meritocracy, and strategic transformation. Officers were elevated based on rigorous policy criteria, including academic qualifications, performance records, years of service, and gender-sensitive considerations. The promotion board conducted a thorough review of personal files, guided by principles of accountability and democratic values.

The announcement has sparked widespread excitement and renewed morale among staff, reinforcing Goal 10 of the GID Strategic Plan, focused on performance enhancement. It also marks a significant response to past concerns highlighted in the GID’s SWOT Analysis, which had identified systemic challenges in promotion fairness.

Prioritising transparency and institutional welfare, this milestone reaffirms the GID’s reform agenda and strengthens its leadership vision, thus ushering in a new era of trust, motivation, and professional growth.
