Daily poor sales: Stall and Shop Owners blame scattered street vendors in Brikama.

Brikama Market Stall and Shop owners have raised general concerns about limited sales in the market caused by roadside vendors scattered everywhere in the market.
They complained that hampered the daily sales.

The Brikama Area Council has deployed Police to help regulate scattered vendors at the Brikama Market, but vendors in the Brikama never comply.
The stall and Shop owners blamed the council for not properly handling roadside vendors thus hampering business for stall owners.

Fanta Njie who is a stall owner, said he sometimes pays boys to stand outside and make some entertainment to attract customers.

“I don’t sell like before because people that should come inside to buy are stopping at the gate and road in the market. So I find it so hard to have customers, I have been in this business for ages but now the market is not under control, someone can come from nowhere spread mate, rials, and start selling. Some of these people even have shops in different locations but they just come to Brikama market because it is the busiest market in The West Coast Region. I urge BAC to intervene and allocate a specific place for each vendor. We cannot block their way but they also don’t have the right to block our way this is business, So we should all play a fair game.” Kemo Ceesay said.

The areas around the Brikama Health Center as well as the Bus Stop gate and the Catholic Church area are often occupied by scattered vendor

Reacting to this story, some scattered vendors argued that business is generally slow therefore it’s easier for them to get quick sales on the highways.
