Two laborers accused of stealing construction materials at a property under construction in Kanifing forfeited their contracts.
Their colleagues at the site narrated conflicting stories about how the alleged thieves came in possession of the materials.
” I discovered that four cement bags and some materials got at the site yesterday. The people we accused were the last to close from work.”Jerreh Mbye, site supervisor said
One of the alleged masterminds is at large.
“When I arrived at the site for work, I realized that someone stole items,” Basirou Secka said
The proprietor of the site, Penda Sowe, was alerted and immediately visited the place. She later found out that the stolen materials were valued at (D20,000) thousand dalasis.
Some construction staff accused security guards hired to protect the site of collaborating with laborers to steal and sell materials.
“teel bought for D10,000 was stolen. They stole and sold for D5,000 and sharethe2,500 within themselves.” a source told this medium.
