Kanifing Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda has officially launched the Unite for Change Movement, a new political platform he says will soon transform into a party, marking his departure from the United Democratic Party (UDP).
In a video address, Bensouda cited The Gambia’s poverty, poor access to water, electricity, education and healthcare, and the desperation of youths risking irregular migration as urgent national challenges, calling on Gambians at home and abroad to unite for change.
While thanking UDP leader Ousainou Darboe and acknowledging the support he received in the party, Bensouda said the decision was one of the hardest of his life but necessary to follow his conscience and ambition to build a better future for the country.
