A resident of Baynaka Village, Njaga Faal Monday appeared before Brikama Magistrates’ Court charged with defrauding two hundred and fifty thousand dalasis (250,000.00) in a land deal.

Appearing before Magistrate I.O. Njie, the accused was dragged on a single count of obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to Section 288 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10, Volume 3, Revised Laws of The Gambia, 2009.

According to the particulars of offence, Faal, sometime in 2024 at Baynaka Village in the West Coast Region, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained D250,000 from one Ebrima Baldeh under the pretext of selling him a plot of land measuring 15 meters by 20 meters a representation he allegedly knew to be false.

When the charge was read and explained to him, the accused pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting Officer CPL 7232 E. Fofana did not object to bail but applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its first witness (PW1).

The case was subsequently adjourned to 4th November 2025, and the accused was granted bail in the sum of D250,000 with two Gambian sureties.
