Barrow’s SONA Address: “The Gambia is a nation in progress”

During his Annual State Of The Nation Address, President Adama Barrow emphasized The Gambia’s progress in various development sectors. He extensively discussed the completed and ongoing development projects by his government, as well as the future plans.“My address portrays a nation recovering impressively from the impact of a global pandemic that affected world economies. It also illustrates a nation in progress, with development efforts yielding significant results. The latest World Bank report, which indicates a 5.3% economic growth, supports these conclusions, confirming that my administration’s development orientation is practical, widely approved, and far-reaching.”President Barrow also highlighted The Gambia’s international ratings on press freedom and human rights, growing bilateral relations, and its key positions in organizations like ECOWAS, AU, and UN, demonstrating the country’s acceptance on the world stage and the restoration of Gambians’ international dignity.”Nationally, our expansion of development programs and unprecedented achievements in providing electricity, constructing roads, and ensuring access to clean water exemplify my administration’s focus on development. Gambians who previously lacked access to electricity, education, healthcare, or water facilities in rural areas are now enjoying these essential rights. Additionally, our social protection programs and interventions targeting the poor and vulnerable demonstrate our commitment to fighting poverty and ensuring equitable distribution of the nation’s resources.”While delivering his Annual State Of The Nation Address, President Adama Barrow highlighted that The Gambia is a undergoing numerous development in all sections. He spoke at length on the numerous development projects completed by his government as well as the ongoing projects and the plans ahead.

“My address clearly portrays a nation that is amazingly recovering from the devastation of a global pandemic that strangled the world economies, a nation in progress, and a nation whose development efforts are already yielding resounding results.
The address confirms that my administration’s development orientation is visibly realistic, widely approved, and hugely far-reaching. The 5.3% economic growth and positive remarks in the latest World Bank report clearly support these conclusions.”

President Barrow added that the Gambiana international ratings on press freedom and human rights, growing bilateral relations, and the key positions it holds in ECOWAS, AU, and UN vividly demonstrate the country’s acceptance on the world stage and the restoration of the dignity of Gambians internationally.

“Nationally, the expansion of our development programs and unprecedented achievements in the provision of electricity, construction of roads, and access to clean water, single out my administration as evidently development-oriented. Gambians who never had the privilege of gaining access to electricity, education, health care, or water facilities upcountry now enjoy this right.
All these, together with the social protection program and other interventions that target the poor and vulnerable, testify to our resolve to fight poverty and guarantee equitable distribution of the nation’s resources”.
